Who are the North London Hospice?

They provide free specialist end-of-life care for residents of the London Boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey.

Why is this important?

This is not a hospital. Terminally ill patients receive medical care while in a comforting, family-friendly unit. All care is personal and tailored to the needs of the patient and their family. The Hospice also provides bereavement counselling, a day centre with many activities, respite care and Hospice at Home for patients who prefer to spend their final days in their own home.

Why are we raising money?

Despite being free to all patients, the North London Hospice has to raise 80% of its 5.6 million pound budget every year through donations. It currently costs over 16,000 pounds a day to offer all its services to the community.

What does this have to do with cupcakes?

Absolutely nothing... but Cupcake Camp is about connecting with and giving back to the community and this London charity provides an incredible service to our city. We often forget our elderly and terminally ill citizens for more glamorous and world-reaching charities but the North London Hospice staff deal with issues that we will all have to face in our lives. What kind of end-of-life care would you like your family to have? Or your friends? What kind of care would you like to have at the most difficult times in your life? These professionals have the time and space to help you in exactly the way you need to be helped.
